Greenfield School Playground Fundraiser

Join us in raising funds to build a playground for Greenfield School, a centerpiece of the Greenfield neighborhood since 1922! The school is a hub of education, community building, and diversity for the area, but has one big limitation:

 

Greenfield School is one of the few elementary schools in the Pittsburgh Public Schools District that does not have a playground. The current play area is a concrete lot that is also needed for parking and a grass field that is often too muddy to use. Meanwhile, the indoor gymnasium is not large enough for all students to be active during recess.

 

Greenfield parents, teachers, administrators, and students agree that our kids need better outdoor play options to promote health and wellness, to make recess more fun, and to provide a safe neighborhood gathering space for kids after school. 

We are thrilled that the Heinz Foundation has recently granted us $50K for our playground. This is a HUGE step toward our goal of $150K, but we need YOUR help to cross the finish line. Your donation will help us pay for:

Playground surface, the foundation of every safe outdoor playspace
Fencing to keep kids safe from cars in the school parking lot
Climbing structure:  the most sought-after piece of play equipment by Greenfield survey respondents
Swings: second most sought-after piece of play equipment by Greenfield survey respondents
Slide: third most sought-after piece of play equipment by Greenfield survey respondents
Sensory elements: Greenfield School is home to PPS Autism programming, and sensory elements make a playspace more welcoming to children on the spectrum

Note that we also accept checks made payable to Greenfield School PTO with the memo "playground."
